Build and Shoot

It would be really awesome if someone made an aos 2d game, a lot of people are making an aos clone why not a 2D one, like gang garrison did with TF2? And what terraria did with minecraft? It could be the next good 2D shooter.


This is what the game would look like( Except the camera won't be zoomed in that much

It would be a green and blue team, and they get a limited amount of blocks to build and a class of semi, smg, and a shotgun.
So basically.... an ace of spades 2D "clone".

so this idea will get bashed out pretty quickly but i think a game like this would be cool

I had started the idea of AoS2D awhile ago but didn't feel like the community would play it. That was also the time when I was very new to game development and still am. When I am done with tribZ and a few other projects I might start it up again.

Three problems:

1) No griefers
2) No n00by smg guy spamming the weapon
3) Green team not dead from aimbot.

That grid is horrible and will be distracting and jarring while playing.

I haven't voted because I think it would be a good idea, but I wouldn't play it.

What ... The grid ? Its a Image made via paint theres no game with grid o_O

I feel like the game would be drastically different...
There would be no hiding and building would be a lot harder. The only things people will build would be 3 block high walls to protect themselves. It would be more or less a run-and-gun game, which is why someone was able to create a 2D TF2, because TF2 already is a run-and-gun.

They could hide players from your view if there is something in the way of you seeing them.

Really? I feel its the opposite. it would eventually end up being a giant crater in the middle with a wall housing a shit ton of rifle users locking the center down, with smg spam everywhere trying to destroy the enemy wall. Would probably be easier to balance out a 2d aos as well, given people dont bitch when rifle changes to not one hit, and doesnt have headshots anymore(along with an appropriate smg nerf and shotgun change).

So you couldn't get it that its just a picture , the grid is there cause its way easier to draw , ah forget it just dont spam this thread ?
