Why doesn't anyone use .76?

Never was really released as a 'full' update, it is still only Beta 0.76. Most servers didn't want to update at the time because it was only beta, and was optional.
Nobody updates to it because then people would have to perhaps redownload the client (huge drop in playercounts). Some players complain about the more 'realistic' lighting and the weapon balances.
Personally, I wish we all played 0.76, but that is probably not going to happen anytime soon. :(

0.76 Was never published officially, it was just a test version which came out a few days b4 jagex fucked the game.

Because 0.76 was never truly finished and released. It was only put out as release candidates for play testing in IRC before Jagex put a stop to any updates.

very true. fagex fucked it. but ultimately, ben aksoy got brain cancer just before 0.43 was released.
0.42 was the last good version.
