.. And if so, how?

Even back when I was nooby a year back, when the game was so much newer to me, I rarely saw a lot of shotgun action. It was either the rifle or the SMG, since both had their benefits.

The rifle is a weapon that has lots of ammo and more controllable recoil, making ranged combat more easy.

The SMG, on the other hand, is a weapon that is designed for mid-range blitzs and suppression.

The Shotgun? Well, I rarely see it used and when it is used, it mostly ends up killing the user in a fight with one of the other weapon types.

Sure, you could say that it is a great weapon for close range combat, but on the other hand, how often do you get a chance to kill someone as close range? It really depends on the map, thus making it a situational weapon, and even on maps where it could be useful, an SMG or rifle is still a common and effective weapon.

Unless, that is, anyone disagrees? I'd like to hear what others think of this underused weapon, and see if in the past year, anything did change about it's opinion.

If you are using OpenSpades the weapon is quite good and you can snipe people with it from medium range. It takes a different play style, one that most players aren't used to, so you will rarely see players using it.

I find that on small maps the shotgun is as useful as heck

It seems to work much better on OS for some reason.

I use shotgun in arena maps and Mctf because i could kill the players by 1 hit most of the time so yea i think shotgun is useful for me only in small maps tho
