I was editing the textures in the AoS png folder, but when i edited the 'blood mark' that appears when you get shot, the clear backround behind it became solid and i cant get it clear again. Why does this happen, and can I get the original textures in a zip?

Don't edit textures with Paint. Paint hates transparency.

Paint.net should not mess up transparency. What is the filetype? What export setting do you use?

the filetype is a .png

I'm sorry, but I have got no freaking clue what an export setting is. yes, I'm a n00b. dont rub it in.

I'm just gonna explain in detail.

on the default texture, when you edit the bloodmark, you have a box with the bloodmark at the top, and the backround is black.
When you play, the black all becomes clear, and the only thing you see is the bloodmark. when I edited it, I still had a black backround. BUT when I played, a big black box with a bloodmark in it appears whenever I get hit.

and can I download the original texture somewhere?
just making sure you heard that Green_Wink1

Backup any mods you have installed then reinstall the game. I'd recommend making a copy of the original files once you've done this too.

And yes, it sounds like you've messed up the export settings in paint.net somewhere. When you save it, check if there is a transparency option anywhere.

-----

I just tried saving a PNG in pain.net and it seemed to remove the transparency of my image if I chose to export as a 24-bit PNG, which is what the hit marker is. Try changing it to 32-bit when you save (you may have to use save as) and see if that works. That's the best help I can offer as I don't use paint.net much.

Well that makes sense, a 24-bit PNG has 8 bits for red, green, and blue, and thus nothing left over for alpha.

OP: when you save, make sure you do save as, (ctrl+shft+s) and you will have a chance to pick your PNG settings. Change it to "auto-detect" or 32-bit and you are good to go. (I recommend the former as it will do whatever is most efficient without losing information).
