How important is building or destroying to the game? Do you not care? Do you like having the ability to build and destroy? Is the games shooter aspect appealing enough to you?

Ace of Spades is built around having a destructible terrain, and being able to build. I'd think it's very important.

being able to break things + build is really nice, I remember when rifle-to-block damage was temporarily disabled for one version and I could hardly play it. on something like TDM with small maps, it is not so important, but it's a nice bonus. building is also great, but I usually just make simple walls

It depends on the gamemode really.

There are many things building can do in warfare, if Call of Duty taught me anything. Bunkers, ditches, foxholes, trenches, tents, storerooms, bomb shelters, etc.
Obviously building would be difficult in the game because impromptu building while taking fire from all places is very tricky. Most people are focused on killing each other, so decent bunkers and diverse trenches instead of 1 x 3 tunnels tend to be more of a luxury than a necessity.
This is why I think prefabs and places with buildings and bunkers already built within strategic locations into them would encourage more planning and building.
Babel is a good gamemode that requires the entire team to build a tower, but generally one tower doesn't suffice a strategic building. I like the capture gamemode that requires capturing locations and defending them by building forts and walls around them. But as said, in more popular gamemodes like ctf and tdm, people are more intent at murdering the opponent/capturing the intel rather than build.

Building is what really got me hooked onto the game early.I really like the aspect of building, thats why dislike all those arena servers. Its especially fun in hourlong ToW games.
I think we need another good gamemode that focuses heavily on building.
I really dislike babel.

Dunno.
Push is pretty boring when you dont play it on community events with like 20 people in mumble.
Its pretty much 2 people building bridges and 20 people spawncamping

Building and destroying is absolutely critical to what the game is. It's a much less useful tactic given the change to the dynamic that comes with the latest versions and new gamemodes, though. But there's nothing like throwing a grenade and jumping in a fresh foxhole while bullets fly over your head.

Considering the actual shooting mechanic of aos is shit, building is pretty much all it has going for it.

Ace of Spades is building and destroying.
That's the only reason I tried this game to begin with. I doubt I would have continued playing after my first 5 minutes if building and destroying wasn't possible.

It adds a feeling of never being safe, because one moment you're camping in some building and then out of nowhere a barrage of bullets destroy the wall in front of you.
So I'd say it can make the game more interesting and strategic

Being able to build and destroy allows players who are less skilled at shooting to still overcome better players by building cover or tunneling around them and shooting them from behind(in my opinion). This is also why maps such as pinpoint and goon assault can be very frustrating at times without any terrain to take advantage of.
