Aiming down is using the iron sights, or whatever you use as a sight
Don't use the sight, just "no scope"

I personally almost always aim down sights unless its extreme close quarters, since I'm more accurate that way, but try and see what works best for you.

No one here ever mentioned what helped me the most. The "Enari-sgith" Here's the one I use, download, put it in the png fold under aos, rename it semi.png

I use the updated shaded area around the cross-hair
