Building complicated stuff just does not make sense to me at all. It seems pointless because it gives every player on the other team a place to look at for targets. I however, Just build simple two block thick walls and seem to get along just fine with that. On matter of the auto climb... I like it and for the love of god it should not go away. playing AoS without it was terrible on my keyboard
. I think the main reason why people do not build and tunnel as much anymore is the lack of classic gen maps where you had to build bunkers, walls and tunnels to simply survive.

The fact of the matter is, the extreme tactical nature of v.21 isn't going to come back until the features of v.21 exist again. You can't really know what it was like unless you played frequently during that time period and SAW the entire green team build a mansion to protect the Intel, and end up with a score of like 74-13. And it's not exactly practical to host a .21 server when everyone else needs to have the client downloaded. That's why I've been pushing for an AoS Classic game mode, or at last some scripts that would allow us to enable or disable features like the minimap, autostep, and some gun variables.

I agree with everyone here, building isnt rewarding anymore and the solution is easy.

I still think distinguishing between natural and user blocks starts over-complicate a game that's great because of it's simplicity. We can simply make other weapons a lot less damaging to all blocks, especially if we get a mortar.

It might be they look exactly the same aside from it being tougher to destroy, it wouldn't break the game at all but infact fix it.
But if there were going to be differences they would have to be subtle

Here is basically what I have gathered from this thread:
1. Autoclimb is evil
2. Classic gen is amazing
3. User placed blocks should be stronger
4. A new scoring system should be implemented to reward builders and people who play to the objective, not just spam the killfeed.
I agree with all of those points.

Maybe if we had more maps that required the digging of trenches and the building of walls and pillboxes?
I don't know after that.

ah... That reminds me of the first time I met Herp Derp... Being a camper like always... Anyways, the first time I met him was when there was a fort on Goon-Assault reaching both sides of the land. And going about 50-70 blocks high. It was sniper's heaven (Because of all the perfectly placed holes) and the great wall of china.

Classic gen didnt really require building/digging outside of intel defense because of how large and open it was. After all why build a defense when you could easily go around it?
