I do the same thing trying to talk to Brazilians in Spanish. It's actually worked a couple of times because a noteworthy percentage of Brazilians speak Spanish.

portuguese is really close to spanish so it's kinda easy to understand.

Well, my experience has been a constant shifting between either digging tunnels deep behind enemy lines, getting sniped by some guy at the very edge of my draw distance, ambushing people, and brief smg-fueled adrenaline highs.
