TheVetNoob wrote:(I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I'll just spew my idiocy around anyway, just like the rest of this thread)Well considering that BnS isn't technically owned. And the fact that they own the versions isn't really pertenant? There's not really anyone to sue since this is publicly ran. They'd most likely have to sue the community as a hole and all. And they can't force us anywhere I mean I don't know about anyone specifically but. I'm sure that if they closed This site down. No body would actually switch. So I mean really there's nothing they can do. Unless they make the trade and advertising illegal except by them. And why would they sue? this game makes no money really. And it's not advertising as AOS 1.0 it's AOS 0.75 as well as 0.76 meaning that were not trying to take or steal there name. It's simply put, an older version of 1.0 But if your really interested to know I'm sure there is a website with Business laws for thing such as this.
Couldn't Jagex sue if we advertised? They still own the beta, and they would probably take any chance they could get to bring BnS down and force people to play 1.0
We have become what we hated the most

A) They would sue to make money. Learn what that actually means. I would sue you if I could so you would stop spewing stupid shit and so I would make money off of it. But alas, I can't.
B) From what I understand, Jagex can't touch us in our current state. But the second we start doing official advertisements or making our own progressed versions (not clones, however) they have us. I could be totally wrong though. I only know things according to U.S. law, and Jagex is U.K.

_._ the hole point of saying why would they sue. because it's supposedly a Publicly owned company. meaning they'd have to sue the public. As far as the owner ship laws. Idk the hole country difference leaves me clueless as to which jurisdiction it follows under. Probably the UK. But dang that has me. I know that other countries can sapenna you and you have to go there. But since No one really owns BnS I don't think they could do that. I see what your saying about advertisement though cause technically this is still AoS. And they own AoS. but maybe there's a loophole in the fact that maybe they own 1.0 specifically. And never actually bough 0.75 Hell they could have bought the name alone eve. I think it'd be interesting to see the bill of sale or actually see the papers.

One Source Mod that I still play found a way of keeping itself a live by using steam groups/clans to host events. Every now and then they host realism events even though the group is barely holding itself together now it has been around for a good amount of time. A lot of communities exist on steam. I think that would be a decent place to starts but to actually introduce people to this game I honestly don't know how we would actually pull it off.

You don't understand the concept of "suing," and fail to realize that "the public" is consisted of individuals that would be very viable to lawsuit. And yes, someone clearly does own BnS, as every single website is owned by someone. There are no loopholes, there is only the potential for cease and desist and civil cases.
Which goes back to saying that you have absolutely no idea what the hell you are saying. And you should feel bad

Even if we do die, I'll be with AoS until that time.
That is, if BF4 doesn't take me with it first...

You guys are getting way off topic. Arguing about the definition of a lawsuit does not solve our problem of mediocre maps and games.

It's pretty much me saying that "we can't make our own official versions because of lawsuits." Yet somehow he still doesn't understand that.

So I know that this is unofficial. But is there anyway possible for us to earn ownership of this short of paying for it? Even if this is 0.75/0.76 and they own 1.0 . Did they buy The name, game, or all? I mean if we where to take control or retrieve owner ship We would need to know what exactly do they own and don't own. Does anyone have any pages of information for this kind of stuff?

Getting ownership of any game is impossible. But if they are willing too we might have to pay.

I'm not saying AOS in general I mean more 0.75, 0.76, specifically. That way we have the rite to change and modify what we want, without fear of AOS retaliation or fear of what they could do.
