And again tonight, we have another disgruntled user spamming "buildandshoot.com" in a gigantic font all over the Jagex AoS forums. This idiot "xeitgeist" is literally spamming across the entire forum right now.
Newsflash for those who don't know:
The AoS Classic Discussion forum on the Jagex site has a sticky titled "DOWNLOADS" at the very top...which links directly to this website. There is no conspiracy by Jagex to prevent people from playing classic AoS for free. If people are too dense to take two seconds to look at the forum and figure out Classic Discussion is the place to go to "discuss" the "classic" version, that can hardly be blamed on Jagex.
Brainlessly spamming links to B&S in giant fonts and creating threads declaring where you can play AoS for free, when everyone who isn't completely braindead can find it out in two seconds isn't helping the B&S community. People like Mehrunes today, posting a sexually explicit and profanity-filled thread on a forum frequented by children because he was somehow personally offended that someone on youtube posted one single positive review of AoS definitely doesn't help B&S.
And I know Kodiak has already talked about this too. This sort of stuff hurts B&S and is sapping an opportunity for B&S to get some honest advertising/general awareness on the official site. And then on top of that, guess where all those dirty-mouthed little kids giggling because they said naughty words on the internet end up? Here!
I would genuinely like to see a partnership between B&S and the new AoS. It would only benefit this community. People who come here already know about the new AoS. Not everyone on the official site knows about B&S.
I know there are some bad feelings with good reasons in some cases for some users here with Jagex but I believe the devs are willing to listen to the community if they provide constructive feedback. That doesn't mean we can dictate how Jagex will develop the game but I'm pretty sure Classic is on it's way back. If people are willing to provide genuine feedback that's more than just "F#@$ Jagex! BUILDANDSHOOT.COM!" we can see positive change.
I have directed numerous people to the B&S website who had questions about Classic AoS. I've posted links to B&S on the forums. I haven't had my posts or threads deleted. I haven't been warned and I haven't been banned. And I haven't been gushing about Jagex either. I've got my issues & criticisms with the new AoS but I'm willing to work on giving constructive feedback so we can possibly see some of the changes we'd like to see.
If you're gonna go on ragers like this though...well...you're probably gonna get banned. And if you're one of the people doing it...please stop. It's not helping B&S. Rage-sprees like this only hurt efforts to advocate for the B&S community.
I know we have a lot of responsible, intelligent and mature members in the B&S community who don't want to see this kind of crap making a bad name for B&S either. I'm just saying...we need to do our best to discourage this type of behavior from giving B&S a bad name.
Spammers/Trolls you're not helping the B&S Community...

I think a lot of people are doing it, because at one point Jagex was so sensitive to the word 'BuildAndShoot' literally saying it got you banned, half the time permabanned. Some people are still screaming BuildAndShoot because they think...
1. Jagex still bans you for screaming BuildAndShoot
2. They think it's cool to be banned

And for anyone who really feels like they've been ripped off, want their money back, can't handle waiting for Jagex to patch/update or just want to play classic AoS, no problem! Ask Steam for a refund! Get your 10 bucks back and get something else! And get it now while it's on sale!
Star Wars KOTOR is on sale for 4.99 right now. Can't go wrong with a classic. You can get the latest Humble Bundle 7 with Steam keys for 6.50. Or you can support some classic AoS servers like Aloha.pk or Minit by donating so they can keep their sites/servers running!
But people who want to stick around the new community and see some real improvements on the game, it's as easy as posting bug reports, suggestions and feedback...without using the word "F@$K".
I realize there was an intial "shitstorm" when a lot of people simply bought the new game and only then realized it wasn't what they thought it would be and then there was a giant dramabomb on the official forums. Hell, I bought the game myself without looking at a single review or video. The first 4 days the game was a giant lagfest. Since the 19th, I've barely had a lick of lag and the devs are talking about a classic mode coming.
Well, we're past that...or at least we're getting past it. I've been advocating for the changes we need in the current game to make new and old fans happy as well as supporting the classic community. But we need to keep moving forward. I'd even be willing to bet, we could get some previously banned forum members reinstated, granted if what they got banned for wasn't particularly heinous and explicit.
The classic AoS community was my first love...but some of you guys...really, really went overboard. I mean, you just got forum bans. Some of the crap I saw posted on those forums would have easily gotten you a forum ban, game ban and if it was EA, possibly an entire account ban on Origin.
I'm still compiling my thoughts on the current state of the game before I provide a full-fledged critique and list of suggestions because it's gonna be something more than just "jetpack is OP" or "this game sucks" or "shouldn't have changed it" which is about the extent of most of the stuff I've read so far.
I'd like to see some of the longstanding members of the classic community weigh in positively on the new AoS. Yes, AoS has been completely changed but instead of focusing on just those changes we can talk about balancing, more emphasis on building, customization options for gameplay and servers and with enough feedback we can try to ensure that when they release a "classic mode" for 1.0 that it's the classic mode that both the beta vets and new players will want to play.
Things like that would infinitely benefit the B&S community far more than just angrily spamming B&S links.

This thread. It is full of truth. sticky pls
Sincerely, I think that people who shitstorm over there should ALSO get banned here. People keep doing it because they think they are "rebels", fighting agaisnt the tirany of JaGex by spoiling other people's enjoyenemt(sorry if I butchered that word) who will be kewl if they go all "FUCK THE POH-LICE" in there. But oh well. There will always be some rotten apples in the garden, and most of the time all you can do is throw them away.
