I've seen a few threads about AoS portable; how do I connect it to my kindle?

There is no AoS portable, unless playing on a laptop. The threads you're looking at were threads discussing/asking people to make a portable version.

Is Kindle really capable of anything else than text and some images?

A Kindle Fire is a full Android tablet. You could probably stream the game from your PC and play it that way. Splashtop would probably work for that. The Ace of Spades Portable thread you're probably talking about is more of a way of storing the installed game in an archive so you can play it on different PCs.
