This guy is a genious, can't wait to be able to play a stable client that can actually run on my piece-of-shit computer.

Heh, you don't know how simple my implementation of the KV6 renderer and the shading thingy is ;)
@VladVP: It's probably best if you apply my modifications to your Voxlap port instead of having this as a new project - I'll do some changes, and send it to you, then you will be able to optimize and improve it, as my progress with Voxap is enough for my needs. I guess you know more than me about optimizing, and that you know how to inline (optional!) MMX and SSE, to increase peformance, which my version lacks indeed a lot. So I don't have to hack Voxlap anymore, and can start work on the client again, and Voxlap is still going to be improved.

Well, since I only made changes to Voxlap5.c and Voxlap5.h, I'll just PM you 2 pastebin links. As I have all the functionality I wanted, I stop its development now, and continue with the client. You said you want to develop Voxlap, so I'm giving my version to you, and you can decide how you are going to continue it.

Omg, nice work with the kv6 thingies, I am impressed! I'm gonna give you a present.
Perhaps this is where we should start applying the interpolation magic, to achieve the OpenSpades look. So, it shall look like OpenSpades?

Again, add an OPTION for it to look like OS or not, because the reason I'm hyping this is because I have a shitty PC that can't run OpenSpades

that defeats the whole purpose of making a new client
and i'm pretty sure it's impossible to have opengl graphics in voxlap

I guess it isn't fully impossible, but it would take a lot of effort, and be extremely slow. Also it depends on how exactly you would define opengl graphics (The different fog? The shading? Player models?). But really, graphics is such a small part of AoS.
I'm repeating what I said, I'm never going to force anybody to play anything with a low FPS just for unimportant eye-candy shit, and the version with improved graphics is experimental, so fully optional anyways. But concerning Voxlap itself, it has a special trick to improve speed: It's possible to set its rendering quality. Reducing it makes it look more pixelated, but it gets faster. The second best quality doesn't look much differently than the best one, but it's a lot faster. However, when developing Voxlap, I never rely on that.

There is no such thing as "opengl graphics".
OpenSpades could just as well look like Voxlap, and vice versa and it would have nothing to do with wheter they used OpenGL. OpenGL is a graphics library, primarily for rendering polygons in 3-dimensional space. Exactly how these polygons are rendered has nothing to do with the library in that way.

then fine work with lecom on that

I personally don't give a shit about whether it looks like gl or not, as long as it looks at least like the original Voxlap, what it does now. Good framerate is more important than good-looking graphics.
So, VladVP, what are you going to do with my version? You said you wanted to contribute, so what are your plans?

So you're busy irl? Ok; didn't want to make you hurry or anything. I improved the KV6 renderer a bit, now it works as good as the Voxlap one (with the usual advantages that it's pure C and that other stuff can be added) and can rotate it, but I'm mainly focusing on coding the client.
