Build and Shoot

We should migrate the IRC channel, #buildandshoot, to LDRoT for a number of reasons:

• Quakenet prohibits many of the discussions which take place within #buildandshoot.
• Many of the IRCops are part of the buildandshoot community, so we could have flags such as extended banlists, and unlimited users.
• Communities such as Minit inhabit LDRoT
• No half-assed bots like Q
• Impersonation is encouraged on Quakenet, while you could protect your nicks with NickServ on LDRoT

QuakeNet sucks dick, and so does Q.
NordicBot is as useful as N. It's not that hard to make a logbot.
No one trusts jdrew, and RoT is good.

Oh god, please, yes. I hate QuakeNet. NordicBots don't really provide anything that you couldn't run yourself, and definitely are not enough to make up for the lack of proper services (NickServ/ChanServ/etc.).

Sorry, please, do tell, what security does QuakeNet provide that LDRoT/Minit/Komrades doesn't?

It is run by rot and not a company or community that will not just take your channel and delete it or spam it. I am not saying it is bad but I do not trust the people behind it. Besides who uses that network? Komrades are on quake net and minit is dead.

I've had channels on there for months and there has been absolutely no abuse whatsoever. There's also been fewer problems such as netsplits than there's been on QuakeNet.

True but how do you know that wont happen in the future?

I trust that any opers doing that kind of shit will have their oper remove. Alternatively, I will gline them personally. The risk of abuse really isn't anywhere near as large as you're making it out to be.
QuakeNet is a pretty shit network in most areas other than its size, so moving to a better network really would be nice.
