Is there a particular reason why this is "N"?



I'm sorry, it's quite late and I can't seem to understand this, but it's bothering me >:

Could be "New" for new post. Otherwise, it could stand for News as that's the News & Announcements section, perhaps a custom icon or something.

EDIT: It seems "News and Announcements" posts on other sections also have the N, so the latter suggestion is probably the case.
