Truth can hurt a lot. It's ok if he wants to fit in. That's what we all want to do. There are better ways of informing people of their behaviour than publicly humiliating them. I rest my case.

Learning by positive reinforcement is a softer way. There are many ways in which people can learn. My parents didn't tell me how bad I was while trying to learn my language as a kid or when I was trying to walk for the first time, did they? I don't know what you mean by: ˝Implying they can learn at all.˝ It just sounds a bit weird... If none of us were able to learn we wouldn't be able to talk right now.

Idk how other people here were raised but where I come from, nothing is better than a bit smacking around once in a while (verbally mostly) to help motivate people.
