You could use IRC to vote, I mean a poll like this without knowing by the members how the votes are going is pointless, you could just give the answer you want and end faster. It can be fraudulent imho.

IRC has a problem in that not everyone is there at the same time. Also, if you are there only you can see it, if you aren't you are left out of the discussion. The leaders have to be there for every single person.

Normally, polls are kept secret until you have voted. The last part of that isn't that important, and if someone asks we can just tell them in IRC.
