Some people do take the whole "US vs Middle East" as pretty much a Crusades 2.0. Heck, until 2010/2011 a company that manufactures scopes(Trijicon, if my memory isn't failing) sold hundreds of rifle scopes for the US Marines and Army with biblical verses on them.

I think you misinterpreted what I meant. I didn't mean that it's Christians versus Muslims, I meant that the war, as a whole, was caused by religion. The 911 terrorists were radical islamists.

It isn't like the USA is just slaughtering Muslims like the crusades though. While we are fighting against people who are Muslim, we have helped rout the Taliban and build highways and infastructure in Afghanistan and Iraq.

One way I like to use to describe God(s in general) is calling it "the gaseous vertebrate".
