Call of Duty will never be Game of the Year for me.
A game has to be new and innovating. That is something Call of Duty has failed to do for 5 iterations of the series.
It's boring now. The same game with a new skin put on it every year.

Thomas Edison technically innovated the light bulb based of his friend's design, and now look at how well known he is. You can practically go up to some random person in the street and ask them who Thomas Edison was, and they are pretty much guaranteed to at least talk about the light bulb.
Meanwhile, Nikola Tesla was trying to provide free power to the world, but the tower was canceled, and he only has about a paragraph or less that talks about him. So apparently, we care more about innovations than inventions.
