Sup,

End of this month I think I will be able to afford an actual gaming comp to replace my netbook. I even have one picked out,

Here's the thing though, I know jack all about CPU's and graphics cards and all that jazz. So I was hoping you guys could give me your opinion on that standard set up I linked above. Or even recommend customization to the parts using the link below,

One more thing I'm interested in finding out is what kind of games I'd be able to run on this rig?

You can find lots of tutorials on how to build a computer, so don't worry about that.

But if you want to go with that PC, I would recommend getting atleast a 1 TB Hard drive. While it isn't necessary, it's still nice to have. And for an extra storage I would get maybe a 128 GB SSD and install windows on it.

Im no expert on computers, but I do recommend using part picker like hobo said. It'll reduce your cost quite a bit. Im looking up some of the parts on the site and you're getting ripped off on certain things.The storage for example costs ~60 usd which is how much I paid for my barracuda 1tb hard drive. And yes, you are going to want quite a bit of memory, seeing as most modern games are taking up over 10 gigs on average, and the newer ones(next gen) will likely take up more as microsoft is rumored to no longer be restricted to 8gig discs. Part picker gives you a list of all the retailers, online or local, selling the thing and lists them in numerical order of best prices. You dont really need to know shit about computer parts to build one, if you want to just ask around on a few game dedicated forums for some budget limited builds and they can usually give you one.(although dont just take any set, do a little research to make sure its what you want. This is a big purchase)

Also, dont cheap out on the graphics card, its what you really want for a gaming rig. My final piece of advice? Just look shit up on line when building it. With the exception of a few things, everything else had some pretty shitty written instructions with unclear diagrams and broken english.

I'd definitely look into upgrading that graphics card. That and go with Windows 7.

I chose the AMD Radeon 7950 as it's a killer graphics card. But you could easily get away with a 7850 or even a 7770 and still play most games maxed in 1080p.

Shipping from America could lead to import taxes, if the customs check your parcel (don't know how likely that is in USA to UK). Might be worth a shot to Google the exact parts you want limited to sites inside the UK. Then again, UK always seems pricey in this department. I don't live in the UK.
Intel CPU's tend to perform better than AMD equivalents at the same clock-speed. Just saying. Nobody mention PCIe 3? TBH I only know that it's out and that it's better, and that it's not on AMD socket boards (yet).

Its what I have and it plays cry 3 near maxed with a good stable frame rate. I'd recommend getting that.

Yeah, check to make sure you wouldnt be paying more than what you could pay for in your region.

Do you really need 16 gigs of ram? You could probably save a decent amount dropping to 8 gigs without any performance issues, especially since youre only running a 7850 rather than a 7900+.

Yes, but AMD CPU's are much better for the price you pay. The AMD FX-8350 is 4.0GHz and octacore. And it costs as much as an i5. If you went with an i7 (which is similar in power) it would cost you $50-$100 more.

The cores of an AMD are also not complete cores. They have some common FPU part IIRC. From what I heard, you get what you pay for. Admittedly I've gone with with AMD; the low-end.

This. The default of 2x4GB@1600Mhz seems adequate.

Agreed with the RAM thing, you're likely to never need 16 GB. Also I have an 8350, hasn't given me an ounce of grief yet.
