Necroposting, for those who don't know, is bumping an inactive thread from months ago. Necroposting is generally considered stupid and annoying. I'm not going to name names here, you know who you are. All I'm saying is that if a thread hasn't had any posts since December, leave it alone.

I don't have a problem with it unless the thread is dumb

But why? Is there any good reasons why we shouldn't do it?

i don't think its a big deal, I made an anime thread a while ago but it stopped getting posted on. If a new person made an anime thread I would link them to the old anime thread instead of having two. That would be necroposting but its ok right?

I find it annoying. I also find it annoying when people tell me to post in an old thread instead of making a new one.

A little bit off topic, but I hate it when a thread get's locked down because there's another thread that is "too similar", yet has nothing to do with it :/

How does looking at the date and if its old it annoys you? Yeah I get it if its an old thread that someone asked a question on it and you answer it 2 months late that's stupid but a lounge thread does no harm.

Necroposting is generally bad. Do it, and I will personally say bad things to you. It is however ok to do if it's the same topic and you would otherwise be opening a new, identical topic.

That's the only reason you would ever necro a topic.

Can't there just be a feature where after X amount of days, replying to a thread won't bump it?

That'd be bad for old threads that should be posted in though.

Agreed, sorry for not being clear in the OP about possible exceptions.
