So was the link in the email actually pointing to secure.runescape.com? If so that is crazy.

I remember getting a shit ton of emails from "jagex". Dont even know how they got my damn email.

I've seen a few people get these, all of which have never even played the game before or haven't for years. There was a similar instance a few months ago and they were fake, so I'm willing to bet it's just another phishing attempt.

Just food for thought, if they were going to "sue" you, they'd need a proper name/address which may require a warrant (if they were to attempt to get it from your ISP).

ReubenMcHawk got the exact same email a few days ago, and it was proven fake. So yes Stack is correct with his tl;dr
