WWII where the Soviets failed to hold back the Nazis at Stalingrad and instead only managed to do it by 1946, with the war overall lasting until 1952 and Hitler being replaced by his second-in-command in 1945, after an assassination attempt succeeded. You control a squad of three soviet soldiers(well, actually the player character is the squad seargent, but you get to order the other squad mates around so it makes little difference) that got lost behind enemy lines in 1947 and has to get back to where your unit is stationed. In the start-middle of the game a defecting German soldier joins your squad. With outdated and broken-down equipment, the player is forced to use stealth, steal german equipment and evade troops while keeping an eye on your dwindling supplies and avoiding or seeking help from civilians, that depending on how brutal you are towards the enemy(assassinations, executions, and other stuff, or choosing to do non-fatal takedowns and shots) will help you or denounce you to enemy troops.http://www.wolfenstein.com/en-gb First thing that popped into my mind, except you control one guy not a squad, it's after WWII but Germans won the war, it's 1960, mechs are everywhere.
Think Ghost Recon + Fallout-ish scavenging + Dishonored stealth system, all packed in WWII.
If you could make any game what features would it have?

I'd make Bad Company 2 with FrostBite 3 Graphics. Or a game about being an actual ninja, because there aren't any like those anymore.

I'm not saying skrim was the best game ever or anything. It was fun. Light entertainment, I guess. I *only* played it for eighty hours. But I picked it up again, and I used mods which actually expanded the game considerably.
I don't love skyrim or anything, but I did find it fun. Then again, I do quite enjoy just taking a spin on my horse, the random events on the way from town to town are actually quite a lot more fun than the standard story line.
Sorry for off topic

Just grind your Smithing and Enchanting and you won't fear anything roaming Skyrim. I even tried a Mage build some time ago but it just took longer to make me lose interest.

The fact that the storyline is pretty mediocre doesn't really help too.

Anyway, getting back on topic...
I had a pretty awesome dream last night, and now I want to adapt it into a game. Basically solar sails are used to move around the universe, riding on 'waves' emitted from stars. Conventional rocket drives are used to move within star systems and planets. I dunno. I thought it'd be cool. Something about the junk-yard feel of the dream - In a way like the 'frontier' towns of Firefly, but even more patchwork and improvised.

A solar sail is an actual concept in rocket science. It'd take advantage of radiation and matter being blown continuously by the star not unlike a wind in an actual ship's sail. However, it'd be of no use outside a solar system, as there would be very little matter being expelled to make use of.

But using your *IMAGINAAAAAAAAAAATION* you can just make it up.
In the game it'd be like 'solar waves' that are emitted from stars, like waves in the sea, except only every few minutes. And anyway, these sci-fi sails would be advanced enough to achieve interstellar travel.
ALSO
G-mod inspired game where everyone gets chucked into a huge open world multiplayer map and you have to build flying machines (either planes, balloons or rigid airships) and just have a massive fight. A bit like Guns of Icarus (I guess) but way more fast paced and weird.
Just playing on that 'massive scale destruction is fun' concept.
