Build and Shoot

Insurgency is a hardcore FPS. It is somewhat realistic, with no crosshair/minimap (There is a map though), and 1-2 hit kills. Once you die, you only respawn if your team captures another objective, so you kind of have one life. It plays slow, but is very tactical. Most of the maps are CQC, but there are a few wide open maps with longer range engagements. There is a learning curve, it takes a few hours to get used to it and be decent, but it's very fun. It's similar to Red Orchestra 2. It was originally a Counter Strike Mod (CSS I think) and runs on the Source (That's what it's called, right?) engine. It's $15 on steam.

Also, you may get a resolution bug when you first join, you can fix it by right clicking the game in your library, hitting properties, set launch options, -w 1920 -h 1080. If not, you may not be able to see the menus, as they're on the side of the screen.

I've seen reviews on this game and it seems very good. I'm thinking about buying it.

It is very good. I just wish it had open maps like Red Orchestra 2 to take advantage of the gunplay.

it's great, I mainly play co-op and I've been enjoying it a lot.

This mod has come a very long way. Its fabulous now and I recommend anyone to try it

Insurgency was updated a few days ago. There are now new maps (Including a remake of one of the large, more open maps from the mod which is awesome), weapons, grenades, gameplay fixes, etc. If you were ever thinking of getting the game, and you have $15, I would definitely recommend this game.

yeah, the new update was cool. I really like the fire grenades, it's nice that fire stays for a while in this game instead of disappearing nearly instantly. the FAL is also cool, and now you can use the sniper rifles without scopes, which is a nice challenge
