This game is awesome, if you like Terraria, this game is similar.
You start out in the middle of no-where with 7 dwarfs and you have to survive.
The default graphics are kind of irritating but there are texture packs.

If you're a lazy newb look up something called "The Lazy Newb" pack and "The Lazy Newb" pack advanced version.

Scrubs. Also as much as I love DF, I cannot run it. "Expect the process to allocate between 300 and 700 MB with medium regions. With 512MB you may be a bit on the short side, but 1 GB is absolutely sufficient." ;_;

I remember playing a lot of the original roguelike games when they only had ascii graphics and graphic ui's weren't even an option but I can't stand playing most of them nowadays in ascii mode except for a select few because it's so damn hard trying to remember what ascii character equals what. Is that a chest, a monster, a potion, a trap, grass, a pressure plate...WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING?!

Speaking of which, I haven't played Nethack in a while. The last time I played I was on the 7th floor of the dungeon and there was a horse and I tried to feed it an apple and it kicked me in the head and I died and then I totally ragequit. I vow to kill all horses in future runs.

Trying to learn this the vanilla way atm. It's hard, but I'm progressing slowly but surely.

Yeah it's an alright game...It's replay value is kinda low in my opinion though..

Played it but the gameplay itself is a bitch. Still quite have to rely on tutorials on web, but it's an nice game.

I had to rely on playing Adventure Mode instead of Fortress.

That game is so freakin' confusing.
