Also, I laugh when the members of Build and Shoot think of themselves as a major part of the AoS community. I won't lie and say that the site is small, but (especially in the ownership), the public opinion of ourselves is a little too inflated to be talking about Jagex like this, considering we haven't been too nice to them either.
Modding is NOT possible in AoS 1.0. Editing the player skins will cause the game to give you an error after Jagex patched it. Also, why would they allow us to make our own maps when they're charging for new ones?
Modding and mapping seems almost like an impossiblity for AoS 1.0 with the announcement of this DLC. Private server hosting also seems like a pipe dream with Sniped's News post about the possibility of servers you have to rent from Jagex and their purported "security concerns."
:-/ I thought it was pretty clear they were going to do paid DLC since the release of 1.0. I don't understand all the commotion in that respect. What's VIP mode?
Maps planned: Z-Fighting, Hallway Lite, Chaos Redux, Random Maze, FHQ Infiltration, Greece Push, Dracula's Castle, New York.

There was plenty of rage back then when they first announced it. It just kinda quelled when people stopped giving a shit about Jagex's AoS and recently resurfaced when they actually started to do it.
Guessing ViP mode will be a protect/kill a certain member of either team.

Modding was actually already working in 1.0 but then jagex specifically took it out, Most of the original community is on B&S. I don't consider the jagex forums to have a community as all I see are a bunch of people criticizing jagex and most have a low post count. Build and shoot as a hole has never actually been mean to jagex only criticized them for their actions.
Figured they were going to do this eventually. While I'm not against DLC if it's only for vanity items (ie items that don't give users a real tactical advantage over others), I still think it's a bit premature for them to be trying to push it out.
As soon as I heard they had locked down modding game files due to "cheating", I knew they would be making the DLC push shortly afterwards. If they were actually concerned with cheating, maybe they should've started with fixing some of the gaping security holes in their game instead of locking down modding under false claims of "security".
Overall, it should be interesting to see all 6 people who buy this playing together.

DLC is an evil that unfortunately, all to many game developers commit. I hate it with all my soul.
Build and Shoot is ever growing though, it may be small compared to Ace of Spades 1.0. But it's player counts are rising. And come February 14, Ace of Spades 1.0's first DLC will make a lot of people ragequit and won't attract any new players.

Ace of Spades steals hearts with GANGSTER THEMED Valentine’s Day content
VOXEL SHOOTER EVOKES INFAMOUS ST. VALENTINE’S DAY MASSACRE
WITH NEW MAPS, GANGSTER CLASS AND WEAPONS OF THE Roaring 1920’s
for immediate release: Jagex, Europe’s largest independent games studio, today unveiled the latest DLC for their popular creative shooter, Ace of Spades, themed around the notorious St Valentine’s Day Massacre in late 1920s Chicago.
If things have become all too sugary this Valentine’s Day then Ace of Spades has the perfect antidote – a brand new DLC pack featuring all the weapons you’ll need to plug your mark before they take a pop at you. Themed around the infamous St Valentine’s Day Massacre, this DLC pack features maps based upon the iconic locations of San Francisco’s legendary prison, Alcatraz and the mob-run streets of Prohibition era Chicago, as well as a new gangster character class equipped with a Tommy Gun, Snub Nosed Pistol, Crowbar and Molotov Cocktail.
Also included in this DLC are two new game modes designed to recreate a 1920s gangster atmosphere. The first, Territories, sees players fighting to control different parts of the map, with the goal of taking control of the City. The second mode, VIP, introduces two new boss characters who need to be protected by their respective gangs whilst attempting to take out the enemy mark. When a team’s VIP is killed they enter Sudden Death – respawns are disabled and all remaining players slowly lose health to keep the pressure up!
The full details of Valentine’s Day DLC are:
6 new character skins
1 new character class
4 new weapons – Tommy Gun, Snub Nosed Pistol, Crowbar and Molotov Cocktail
2 new maps (Chicago and Alcatraz)
2 game modes(VIP and Territories)
The Valentine’s Day Massacre content launches today on Steam for $4.99/£3.49/€3.99 and for the first week of launch will be 20% off.
Since its launch on Steam last month, Ace of Spades has firmly cemented itself as one of the most popular Steam titles, peaking at #1 on the Steam charts and enjoying over 4 weeks in the global top 10 list.
