Well, if you had basic knowledge on how to use a computer, your home computer could be a free vps.

There is no such thing as a free vps. That "free" vps offer is a sham. 128mb of ram and "unlimited" bandwidth. With an offer set as "free", how many people would use it? You would get shitty speeds with it.

It's not hard to fork out $4-5 dollars a month for a self-managed linux vm.

There are decent servers for around 5-6$ per month. If you need a server for a specific event or a clan match, you can use your pc if you have a decent upload speed.
