Which one is the best?
minit
Lead by Enari Menit has been growing strong ever since it was born, currently this is the only place to play goon assault
alhoa
this company has 17 servers which is home to at least half the ace of spades population! It is sometimes the only place to get maps and modes like infiltration, counter strike maps, and 24/7 hallway! though sometimes there aren't enough admins to go around

aren't the colors on Minit less neon?

that is something I like about their servers(or one of them at least) I also don't really like the map variety on the aloha servers, maybe it is the same as Minit, but I've had more fun with Minit

Aloha Pros: Lots of servers and map variety. When banning people they require solid proof before they ban you for hacking. Popular servers are usually almost full and ready for some action. They don't trust auto-bans so you don't have to worry about a script banning you wrongly.
Aloha Cons: Lots of servers means it's hard to keep active in-game moderation. Lots of red-tape when they want to ban someone (ie require video evidence and multiple witnesses etc). Don't trust auto-bans so there are many hours of completely unmoderated servers throughout the day. Administration seems a bit stiff for my taste.
Minit Pros: Few servers meaning more concentrated server moderation. Server mods get a little more personal with the community and players. Assault and TestDrive have some compact, high speed, build to survive maps that really bring out the building component of ace of spades and max out the addictive side of the game. Admins are a bit looser than Aloha so they are more willing to interfere with the game to add twists or variety (ie. a god built structure in the dead center of the map). We like auto-bans so the servers always have at least SOME level of hack banning capability so players aren't left to completely fend for themselves in the thinly moderated hours.
Minit Cons: Since the new server list, our player base has struggled to get back on its feet. Our justice system is probably a lot less consistent than aloha's and maybe a little less just for some people. There is a very slight chance that you may get auto-banned by our new hack detection script. The maps tend to be more repetitive, but we like the old classics. Although we maximize the addictiveness of this game, our servers may get a bit dry after a while.
So it's not really which is better. They both have their good and bad points and they both have some awesome servers. I play both to be honest, but I usually stick with my Minit home where I have a lot more power over situations.
Note: I obviously have more experience with Minit so my answer lengths are biased based on that fact. Please add your own comments.

We don't always require video evidence, but this one time we didn't use it, some kid decided it was a good idea to take it to /v/ and shitstorm everything.

I take it you decided to leave the ban in because of how he handled it?
Anyhow, pros / cons, not very in depth really.
Aloha pros:
The ping's absolutely fantastic from New Zealand. Plus, I have a trusted pass.
Aloha cons:
Because there's so many damn servers, it's nigh impossible for the admins to monitor properly. Also, the votekick threshold is a bit too high, given the ineptness of some of the players on there.
Minit pros:
We're usually watching the server in the corner of our eyes. We also have some pretty sweet hack detection, including one which I think a year ago I said wasn't possible to detect. Also, one of our servers has /togglesmg.
Minit cons:
We ban just about everyone. Here's a list of things you shouldn't do (and this is just the stuff I ban for):
- Hacking. This is obvious. You will get a permaban for this.
- Oversized models. We treat these on-par with ESP, as we cannot tell the difference, and we don't want to. Besides, they're exactly the same thing, only implemented differently.
- Getting caught hacking, then denying you had any. We won't lift your ban if you lie about it.
- Getting caught hacking, then saying "LOL". You will get two life sentences, the second for being a douche.
- Evading bans. I perm /16s on the first ban evasion.
- Griefing. This is also obvious. Depending on the severety, you will get at least a 1 week ban, which is the default ban length.
- KTO POLAK / ALGEUM BR / WER IST DEUTSCHER / HOLA - We have a "Speak English" rule, and we do enforce it, and I do, depending on my mood, sometimes ban on the first offence.
- "speak espanol please" when the "Speak English please" thing shows up. I will probably ban you for being a smartass.
- "no kill" - I will /kill you from IRC, remind you that this is not a build server, and if you do it again I will ban your ass.
- Using the SMG - Depending on my mood, I will tend to /toggleheadshot you. Only if I'm REALLY pissed off will I actually ban (probably just for an hour just to get you out of my sight). If Enari didn't remove /togglesmg from the whitelist script, this would not be a problem. also topo you lazy bastard hurry up and fix the SMG damage values But yeah, I am really sick of this fucking piece of shit.
- Spamming. If you don't get muted, you will get banned instead.
- Flaming/abusing the admins - just. don't. We have ways to abuse you.
- Claiming to be an admin - we will abuse the shit out of you. /kill spam ahoy!
- Impersonating an admin - enjoy your permaban.
- Really, really shit names (try xXkillerXx some time). Some are autokicks/bans. If yours wasn't automatic, it will be 7 days. Not to worry, though, as we can lift these straight away if you appeal (just remember to change your bloody name OK?). You'd be best to appeal these on #minit @ QuakeNet.
- Making pixel art / text on the floor of Assault. If you absolutely must make pixel art, do it standing up. I don't want to be wasting time cleaning your shit up. By the way, whatever you build, please make it useful!
- Making buildings with beds in them on Assault, and other useless shit. Floor space is precious as not said at all in the previous point, but you should get the drift.
- Votekicking people for aimbotting when they are not. Use /ratio next time. If they're blatantly not, and we have evidence you've only died once, expect abuse at the very least.
- Votekicking people where we've already declared them to be clean. Expect a 7 day ban.
- Votekicking for camping, spawncamping or not. These two things are actually permitted.
- Votekicking for swearing. The stuff we don't like is equivalent to spam, anyway.
- Votekicking for stupid reasons - ...yeah.
- Crouchspamming... no, only joking. It's an annoying flaw of the game in my view, but it's also very common, and very widely accepted. Just don't expect the spade, because if you expect it, I'm screwed :(
Also, I strongly recommend ensuring that none of your siblings get hold of this game, let alone any hacks for it, unless we know and trust you.

Minit: Great admins, some neat gamemodes on testdrive. However, they don't have any server with big wide open maps. Usually a pinpoint type thing, or a flatland, which is great at some times but boring at others.
Aloha: EPIC MAPS. Jungle valley: The one infiltration one with the massive temple in the middle with dense forest Swamp Canyon: Awesome spooky murky swamp with willow trees for cover. Cons: GRIEFING/HACKING! I was just on Aloha CTF and noticed the intel was undefended, so I built a nice base around it. Like clockwork, two griefers come and start nading the place up. I killed them and placed blocks over their nades as much as I could, but eventually they got the tower down. Multiple votekicks still wouldn't get rid of them.
If Aloha and Minit had a love-child with both epic maps AND good admins, I would be happy.

Good luck playing the game looking at the ground. It's an unfair advantage, similar to how foghacking is a no-no.
GreaseMonkey wrote:

We actually decided to unban him since in the end, we didn't actually have concrete evidence against him and he told me a reasonably believable reason why he was able to seem like he was hacking (z-fighting glitch).
In general:
Aloha's focus is on diversity, all types of game-modes. We're also pretty chill when it comes to trolling/dicking around, though we're still serious about griefing, racism, and aimbotting. Minit comes off as much more intense; the playerbase is more skilled and experienced than the average Aloha guy. Their rules and policies filter out most of the crap in the game, but admin intervention is generally much more visible.

Well to think about it,why are we talking about who's better against who.Minit and Aloha are both great servers to play on.They both have good sides and bad sides which makes them equal.

Aloha isn't a company.
It's hard to get into specific cons about both communities. I like them both. There are certainly things we can improve on at aloha however.
I think the biggest con we have is that we have a lot of staff members (50+) but we don't have very much spread. As in, I often play on a few servers and at the same time another admin or two are also on. I would say we could force staff to play other servers, but I wouldn't like that myself and I suspect neither would other staff members so that's not really an option.

Yea, this would prety just make you the best as that is the only flaw for aloha I have. Sad minit has pretty much die. The other thing is your mumble servers, minit was the community one I guess but they have both became inactive to where there is only one person on and that user is usually is AFK. So I guess overall aloha has won, minit is still the one I will play on the most but aloha has a special place in my book now
Dan: you can lock this If you want I think the community has gave its opinion

Hey, don't lock this, keep it going!
We appreciate the feedback, so we can work on improving our servers.
